Hey LTW Family! I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend and were able to create wonderful memories with your loved ones.

This can be a Monday that tests your mindset, environment and habits. That’s why I wanted to set you up for success.

When people see a person who went through a transformation, they only see a part of what it took to get there.

Just like an iceberg, there’s more than meets the eye.

We all know the famous example of how the “unsinkable” ship (The Titanic) was brought down by an iceberg. The danger of an iceberg isn’t what’s above the ocean. It’s what’s below that you can’t see that can tear apart the hull of a ship.

The same goes for your transformation in the gym.

The “beneath the surface” stuff is the BIG STUFF that leads to the massive transformation the world can see in before and after photos.

The 3 biggest parts of The Iceberg of Change are….

  1. Mindset
  2. Environment
  3. Habits

Let’s take a look at each of these individually and how they can affect your results and long term healthy lifestyle.

MINDSET

This is how you think and what you believe to be true. Some people believe “they will never lose weight” and that mindset does not serve them. Or they think “I really blew it this weekend so this week is a bust.” Not true. But if you believe that to be true then your mind will steer you toward actions to make it true.

Your mind is always looking for ways to make your thoughts, actions and reality. So, if you think thoughts that do not serve you, do a big mental cleansing and think more about what you’re doing right, the positive changes that are happening and give yourself a pat on the back for what progress you’ve made so far.

ENVIRONMENT

These are the things, people and inputs in your life. The things are the foods stocked in your pantry, the workout clothes being easy to find and put one, the water bottle within arms reach. Set up your environment to make living healthy easy.

It’s also the people you surround yourself with. We will become the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. That’s why being around our community at Lead The Way Fitness is so important. If you don’t have any examples of living a healthy lifestyle at home, then you can find it in our community.

Lastly, your input is the information you are allowing into your head. You can let garbage in like the news, negative social media accounts or other forms of media that fill your head with fear, worry and anxiety. Or you can choose to only consume positive content that makes you feel good. This is all part of your environmental influences.

HABITS

The other two contribute to this final topic. How you think and what is around you will literally change your habits. You can stack your habits in your favor or they can work against you. Habits are powerful because they have a massive compounding effect.

When you do something day after day, it can lead to a massive transformation. It’s simple things but they aren’t easy to do everyday. Things like exercising, eating a high protein diet, drinking water, getting adequate sleep.

Having habits that don’t serve you (watching too much TV, over eating sugar, not getting enough movement) will result in weight gain and health problems.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The hard work you put in your mindset, environment and habits to create a sustainable lifestyle change.

This is not an overnight fix. It will take time. For some it takes months and for others it can be years. But don’t let that discourage you.

Just like anything worth having in life, there are sacrifices. But life is so much better with it. Let’s be the people that aren’t afraid to put in the self-work to become the best version of ourselves.
